    Q:
How to Replace a CV Boot and CV Joint on an Automatic Wheel Drive Shaft on Chevrolet Aveo? Posted by Customer
    A:
In order to replace the wheel drive shaft inner joint and boot, first you need to dislodge the drive axle from the vehicle. Remove and discard the seal retaining clamps: there are two clamps - the large and the small - which are removed using j 35566 (Seal Clamp Pliers). Click off the joint housing from the boot and clean and degrease the tripot assembly. Mount plain bearing-tbi w/o bearing lock, then install the tripot joint, tripot joint retaining ring and the shaft retaining ring back into the Axle Shaft, and take off the tripot joint seal with j 8059 (Snap Ring Pliers) and then replace the tripot & then the tripot joint ret. Ring & the shaft ret. Ring back in the Axle Shaft, and remove the tripot joint seal. During the installation, a new small seal retaining clamp should be fitted onto the seal, and then the seal should be fitted to the Axle Shaft. Install the shaft retaining ring onto the Axle Shaft using the j 8059 (Snap Ring Pliers). Add 195-215 g (6.9-7.6 ounces) of the suggested grease to the tripot housing and repack the tripot with the same quantity. Mount the boot to the joint housing and install a new large seal retaining clamp by crimping it with j 35566 seal clamp pliers and then crimp a new small seal retaining clamp with the same tool. Last but not least, reinstall the drive Axle Shaft back into the vehicle.
