How to service and repair the Automatic Transmission Shifter on 2000 Cadillac Eldorado?

In order to service the shifter A/T, unscrew the shift knob and console assembly. Unscrew the park/lock and shift control cables, and take out the floorshift control. Installation requires attaching the floorshift control, reconnecting the cables and replacing the console assembly and the shift knob.
