2000 Chevrolet Camaro Brake Master Cylinder Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the brake master cylinder on 2000 Chevrolet Camaro?
A: To replace the brake system master cylinder, remove and dispose of the brake fluid from the reservoir prior to dismantling the combination valve pipes to stop the loss of brake fluid and contamination. Remove the master cylinder master cylinder nuts before pulling out the master cylinder, disconnecting the brake fluid level sensor connector. Bench bleed the master cylinder before installation and ensure that the master cylinder nuts and bolts are tightened to a torque of 29 nm (21 ft. Lbs.). Refill the master cylinder reservoir and connect the brake combination valve pipes on to the master cylinder one at a time starting by unplugging the locally fabricated plugs and installing the brake pipe fitting finger tight. Use an assistant to press the Brake Pedal to take out the air in the loose brake pipe fittings and then tighten the combination valve pipe fittings to 32 nm (24 ft. Lbs). Then, ask the assistant to push the Brake Pedal several times to release and pump it as fast as possible. If the Brake Pedal does not go down and stays firm for a little while, then start the car; if the steel starts to soften, take the vehicle for a test drive. If the Brake Pedal fails during braking, bleed the entire brake hydraulic system. Lastly, we have to connect the brake fluid level sensor connector.
