2001 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 Throttle Body Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the Throttle Body Assembly with Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) on 2001 Chevrolet Suburban 1500?
A: To change the Throttle Body assembly into electronic throttle control (ETC), have a careful attitude toward the electronic throttle control while treating it and avoiding damage and contamination. First, identify the 8-digit part of identification number on the casting of the Throttle Body for use when servicing or part replacement. Jack up the vehicle and partially drain the cooling system to take the hoses off the Throttle Body. Decrease the vehicle, and then remove the intake Air Temperature Sensor connector, and keep all openings covered in order to appear free from contamination. Remove the air intake duct, then disconnect throttle actuator motor harness connector, the tp sensor harness connector as well as the crankcase ventilation hose from Throttle Body. Unscrew the Throttle Body attaching bolts and unclasp the coolant hoses before removing the Throttle Body and the gasket, which should be disposed of, and the crankcase ventilation hose and tube inspected for damage. For installation, install a new Throttle Body Gasket, install coolant hoses, and install the Throttle Body assembly with a torque wrench to 10 n.m (88.5 lb in) on the Throttle Body bolts. Reconnect the tp sensor harness connector, and the crankcase ventilation hose, making sure that the throttle actuator motor harness connector, and seal are in place. Mount the air intake duct, then reconnect the intake Air Temperature Sensor harness connector. Refill the cooling system and ensure that vehicle is not in reduced engine power, ignition is on, and engine is off. Use a scan tool to check if the throttle-opening and throttle-closing range test, depress accelerator pedal, pedal should be free to move between close throttle and wide open throttle (WOT), start the engine, and verify if coolant leaks are present.
