The service and repair process for driver or passenger seat belts begins by removing the front seat back trim cover followed by using upward force to free the rear section of the shoulder belt adjuster post trim . Begin by pulling up the rear part of the shoulder belt adjuster close-out ring and then remove the front half of shoulder belt adjuster post trim by unscrewing its 3 fasteners . The first step is to take off the seat back cover J channels from three sides along with the top before detaching the seat cover from the upper trim retainer and removing its two fasteners. Set apart the upper trim retainer halves before removing them while marking the seat back frame above the upper trim retaining bracket for proper alignment during rebuild. Pull out the fastener from the upper seat belt retractor and extract the retractor through the seat frame. First detach the push pin retainer which connects the lower seat belt retractor trim cover and then you can release and remove the trim cover. The team disconnects the lower seat belt guide through tab release before extracting the upper rivet from the lower seat belt guide bracket for lower seat belt retractor clearance. Detach the fastener from the lower seat belt retractor. After that disconnect the lower retractor from its seat frame. End the process by taking out the retractors together with the trim parts from the vehicle. When installing the lower retractor it must be attached to its mounting stud with correct positioning of the anti-rotation tab in the seat frame while tightening the fastener to 55 N.m (41 lb ft). Begin by installing the new rivet before adding the lower retractor seat belt guide cover and lower retractor trim cover to the corresponding area on the seat frame. Fasten the push-pin while making sure the upper trim bracket stays parallel to the seat back frame upper cross member. Place the upper trim retaining bracket in the proper position while lining up with the previously marked angle then fit and adjust the upper shoulder belt retractor over the height adjuster roller without twisting the seat belt. Secure the upper shoulder belt retractor while checking for correct position between the anti-rotation tab and the upper trim retaining bracket before fastening it with proper torque at 55 N.m (41 lb ft). Secure the upper trim retainer over the upper shoulder belt retractor by fasteners that reach 1.4 N.m (12 lb in). Check that the upper trim bracket together with mounting fasteners allow free movement of the upper seat belt retractor before returning the seat back cover over the trim retainer and J channels to the seat frame and the front half of the shoulder belt adjuster post trim with fasteners tightened to 1.4 N.m (12 lb in). Attach the shoulder belt adjuster close-out ring followed by the rear half of the shoulder belt adjuster post trim cover and the front seat back trim cover while testing the correct functionality of seat belt retractors and shoulder belt height adjuster.
