2002 Chevrolet Impala Power Steering Reservoir Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the Power Steering Reservoir for the CB Series on 2002 Chevrolet Impala?
A: The first step to replace the power steering reservoir for CB models entails placing the hydraulic pump at a fixed location using a flat surface with an upward shaft orientation. The screwdriver helps push retaining clip tab outwards so you can pull the reservoir clip away from the hydraulic pump assembly. The second reservoir clip needs removal before pulling out the reservoir from its position inside the hydraulic pump housing. Discard the O-ring sealing element present at the reservoir neck position or hydraulic pump housing section. The new O-ring gets power steering fluid application before installing it into the reservoir neck. Install the reservoir on the hydraulic pump assembly keeping the reservoir neck completely within reach. Secure the reservoir feet against the hydraulic pump housing sides using the new retaining clips which the pump comes with followed by a verification that the clip tabs completely lock into the hydraulic pump housing.
