2003 GMC Safari Fuel Injector Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to service the fuel injector on 2003 GMC Safari?
A: Before beginning service the Fuel Injector users must first decrease the fuel system pressure. The upper intake manifold assembly and fuel meter body assembly must be removed sequentially as the next step. Constructive removal of both the injector assembly retainer and the injector retainer lock nuts is necessary. You should push the injector tube downward using a small tip punch until the injector releases from its position. At the same time ensure you do not damage any electrical connector terminals. The entire Fuel Injector assembly needs attention since these electrical components require avoidance of any liquid solvent for protection; professional cleaning of fuel injectors is discouraged. Before assembly installation the new Fuel Injector assembly requires engine oil lubrication of its o-ring seals. The application requires a specific injector which needs to be selected because each injector operates at its own predefined flow rate. Place the Fuel Injector assembly at the fuel meter body before securing the injector assembly retainer together with the injector retainer lock nuts and tighten to 3 n.m (27 lb in). End the installation process by fitting the fuel meter body assembly in place.
