2004 Chevrolet Impala Steering Knuckle Parts and Q&A
Q: How to replace the steering knuckle on 2004 Chevrolet Impala?
A: First lift the vehicle into position before implementing proper vehicle support. First separate the bearing/hub assembly then remove the front lower control arm ball stud together with the outer Tie Rod End from the Steering Knuckle. Start by scribing the strut to the knuckle before you remove the bolts and nuts that attach the strut to the knuckle. Then pull out the knuckle from the vehicle. Place the knuckle on the vehicle then perfectly position the bolts and nuts that join the strut to the knuckle before tightening to 120 nm (89 ft. Lbs.). Place the outer tie rod onto the Steering Knuckle followed by installing the front lower control arm ball stud onto the knuckle and the front wheel drive shaft bearing. Check the vehicle height next while performing a front wheel alignment inspection followed by any required corrections.
