2007 Chevrolet Cobalt Clutch Master Cylinder Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the Clutch Master Cylinder (M86) on 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt?
A: Begin Clutch Master Cylinder (M86) replacement by removing the clutch pedal retainer from the front of the assembly followed by pulling the pedal upward to detach the Clutch Master Cylinder pushrod from the pedal. Begin by carefully removing the ubec while noting how brake fluid impacts paint along with electrical components. A shop towel must be placed under the Clutch Master Cylinder before disconnecting both components: clutch hose and clutch line . You must cap the reservoir and hydraulic lines while you rotate the Clutch Master Cylinder by one 1/4 turn clockwise to remove it from the vehicle. To install the Clutch Master Cylinder position the pushrod towards the clutch pedal before you insert the cylinder by rotating it 1/4 turn counterclockwise. After unsealing the reservoir combine clutch line with Clutch Hose to the master cylinder before reattaching the ubec. The clutch pedal retainer installation follows the pushrod connection to the master cylinder. Bleed the clutch hydraulic system afterward.
