How to replace the engine oil pressure switch on 2007 GMC Sierra 1500?

To replace the engine oil pressure sensor or switch, one may need the following tools: Oil Pressure Switch socket (J 41712). Clean up around the oil pressure sensor first to ensure that no dirt gets into the engine. Disconnect the Fuel Pump/oil pressure sensor elect. Connector and remove the Fuel Pump/oil pressure sensor by using Oil Pressure Switch socket (J 41712). The alignment of the engine oil pressure sensor fitting should be noted before its removal, while removing such a fitting if necessary. For reusing the old fitting, smear sealant on the threads and screw it down until snug then tighten it to 15 n.m (11 lb ft) and modify the torque so that the centerline of the fitting is 50 degree off of the centerline of the crank shaft. In case of reusing the old sensor, apply sealant to the sensor's threads before installing the sensor with the help of the Oil Pressure Switch socket (J 41712) and tighten it to 30 n.m (22 lb ft). Finally, reconnect the Fuel Pump/oil pressure sensor electrical connector and check and adjust the engine oil, if necessary.
