How to replace the ignition lock cylinder on 2008 Chevrolet HHR?

In order to change the ignition switch lock cylinder, disconnect the negative battery cable and turn off the SIR system. Take off the steering column trim covers and rotate the ignition lock cylinder to the RUN position. To change the lock cylinder, depress both retainers to take out the cylinder, and then install the new lock cylinder as well as the trim covers.
