2009 Chevrolet Aveo Coil Springs Parts and Q&A

  • Q: What precautions should be taken when removing rear coil springs on 2009 Chevrolet Aveo?
A: During the process of removing rear springs in a car, it is advised that one should not apply a twin-post type hoist since the swing arch tendency of the back axle assembly, first, will slip out the hoist, which can result in personal injury since the rearmost axle assembly of the car will slip out of the hoist due to the tendency that it will develop when certain fasteners are removed from the axle assembly. If possible use a frame contact hoist to raise and suitably support the vehicle, support the rear control arms with jack stands. If utilizing a twin-post hoist, lift the body and support the control arms using jack stands. Wrench off the wheel then pull out the right and left Shock Absorber bolt. Lower the rear axle as well as take away the springs and top insulator. While raising up the axle assembly and the springs, install the upper insulators on to the body and secure using adhesive to hold them during installation of the springs. Mount the upper insulator and mount the lower Bumper and mount the springs and lift the axle. Mount the shock absorbers so that, before you tighten the Shock Absorber attachment bolts, the axle assembly should be brought to trim height. Lastly, install the wheel, remove car jackstands, and bring the car down.
