How to replace the ignition lock cylinder on 2009 GMC Savana 1500?

In order to replace the ignition switch lock cylinder, remove the battery negative cable and two-off the SIR system. Take out the steering column trim covers, and rotate the ignition lock cylinder to the start position and retaining pin. Withdraw the cylinder, position it to be installed and replace the trim covers. Lastly, turn on the SIR system and re-attach the battery.
