Use J 35910 Drive Axle Boot Clamp Pliers to detach and throw away the outer boot clamp and the inner boot clamp attached to the CV joint. Replacements must be made to the entire wheel drive shaft when boot damage occurs together with detected foreign elements in the CV joint. Users should cleanse away lubricant from both the CV joint boot and wheel drive shaft components before boot removal. To install the wheel drive shaft and CV joint housing together use the CV joint boot and adjust the clamp until it seats correctly within the boot's groove. Use J 8059 (Snap Ring Pliers) to tighten the clamp until you measure 2.15 mm (0.085 in) between its parts. Apply half of the lubricant to inside the CV joint boot while placing the other half directly into the CV joint itself. Mount the CV joint boot onto the CV joint housing followed by installing the clamp so the boot edges maintain a 88.6 mm (3.50 in) distance. Use J 8059 (Snap Ring Pliers) to tighten the clamp until the measurement indicates 1.90 mm (0.070 in). After distributing the lubricant through circular joint motion clean off excess lubricant from the CV joint exterior before installing both the CV joint boot and outer component then the wheel drive shaft.
