Wipe the oil Drain Plug region with a dry, clean cloth before attaching the plug and tightening it to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). Place the vehicle in lower position before adding the correct oil type at recommended levels to the engine. Check the oil pressure gauge while the engine runs and look for proper pressure increase before inspecting both the Oil Filter cartridge housing and the Oil Pan Drain Plug for fluid leakage. Before proceeding shut down the engine then verify and adjust the engine oil level when needed.

How to replace the engine oil and oil filter on Cadillac Escalade?

The first step is to locate the oil fill cap while opening the hood before removing it. Start by turning off the engine while the oil sinks into the storage pan during a few minutes. Reinstall the clean oil level indicator on its tube after wiping its end with a paper towel or cloth until the handle reaches the top of the tube. To inspect the oil level you should repeat the removal process of the oil level indicator while keeping its tip pointed downward. Check the oil level for adjustment by adding or draining oil then inspect for any leakages prior to hood closure.

Afterwards the technician should remove the oil drain pan placed underneath the vehicle. After adding new engine oil start the engine to verify there are no oil leakages. Start by turning off the engine while the oil sinks into the storage pan during a few minutes. Reinstall the clean oil level indicator on its tube after wiping its end with a paper towel or cloth until the handle reaches the top of the tube. To inspect the oil level you should repeat the removal process of the oil level indicator while keeping its tip pointed downward. Check the oil level for adjustment by adding or draining oil then inspect for any leakages prior to hood closure.
