To install the upper Intake Manifold, you have to install the throttle and
MAP Sensor if taken off. Next, do not forget to insert a new seal (O-ring) on the pcv valve cover before lubricating it with clean engine oil, then installing the cover in the upper Intake Manifold by turning and locking it in its place. Perform the same procedure on the power brake booster vacuum tube fitting while making sure to always use a new seal (O-ring), as well as clean engine oil, to wet the fitting before securing it in place. The new seal should be placed on the fuel meter body assembly and then lubricated using the clean engine oil. After that, attach a new upper Intake Manifold to lower Intake Manifold gasket in the groove of the upper Intake Manifold and install the upper Intake Manifold to the lower Intake Manifold. Please reuse fasteners, apply threadlock gm p/n 12345382 or comparable to the threads of upper Intake Manifold attaching bolt. Mount the upper Intake Manifold attaching studs and initially tighten them to 5 nm (44 inch lbs.); finally to 9 nm (80 inch lbs.), the last pass. Step up to install the fuel lines to the fuel meter body assembly and the Distributor Cap and
Ignition Control Module and the evap canister purge solenoid valve and accelerator control cable bracket with studs and nuts, tighten 12 nm (106 inch lbs.). Connect the a/c vacuum hose to the Intake Manifold, install power Brake Booster Vacuum Hose bracket and nut, tightening nut to 11 nm (97 inch lbs.) then fit power Brake Booster Vacuum Hose. Mount the bracket for the engine wiring harness to the lower Intake Manifold stud and tighten a nut to 12 nm (106 inch lbs.). Connect the electrical connectors for the fuel meter body assembly, evap canister purge solenoid valve, MAP Sensor, throttle position (TP), idle air control (IAC) motor, engine coolant temperature (ECT) gauge sensor and a/c high pressure switch if equipped. Mount the PCV Valve Hose assembly into the Intake Manifold, and the valve rocker arm cover, then require the cruise control cable assembly if so furnished to the throttle shaft and accelerator control cable bracket. Fasten the accelerator control cable to the throttle shaft and the accelerator control cable bracket. Mount the air cleaner outlet duct to the maf sensor, connect the iat sensor harness connector and fasten the air cleaner outlet duct with retaining nut to the
Throttle Body assembly at 2n.m (18 in-c lbs). Lastly connect the pcv tube at the outlet duct of the air cleaner, with air cleaner installed leave only engine cover to finish the job.
