Unscrew the boot clamp from the constant velocity (CV) joint and the boot with the help of a flat-bladed tool first and then apply side cutters to cut through the boot clamp from the boot and the wheel drive shaft . Get rid of the old boot clamps and use new clamps. Next use a block of wood and a hammer to remove the cv join from the wheel drive shaft and take off the boot from the wheel drive shaft in order to look for cracks within the cv join. Examine the outer cv joint for damage and wear. Place the boot on groove of the wheel drive shaft and ensure that it properly seats in the wheel drive shaft. Inject about half the grease from the service kit into the outboard boot and pack the cv joint with the rest of it. Mount cv joint on the wheel drive shaft by using a block of wood and a hammer, mount boot clamp on the boot and the wheel drive shaft connect it to the boot clamp on the boot on the cv joint housing. Make sure the boot clamp is suitably located at the whole circumference of the boot and use the j 35910 drive axle seal clamp pliers to crimp this piece. Check the dimension of the clamp end gap, which should not be more than 2.15 mm (0.85 in), and clasp the boot clamp securely with the ch-48894 wheel drive shaft boot clamp pliers. Post the wheel drive shaft from the bench vise and evenly spread the grease through the outer cv joint by spinning inside about 4 to 5 rotations before fitting the whole drive shaft in the vehicle.
