How to service and repair the steering wheel on Chevrolet Lumina?

Start Steering Wheel repair or service sessions by turning the ignition to off when disabling the sir system. Mark an alignment point on the Steering Wheel hub by scribing it directly with the Steering Shaft slash mark. Use a screwdriver to loosen the Steering Wheel shaft nut before setting it against the end of the Steering Shaft. The countergear Steering Wheel puller (J 1859-03) should be assembled to the Steering Wheel hub to extract the Steering Wheel from the Steering Shaft before tool removal. Unroute the sir connector from the Steering Wheel before taking off the Steering Wheel itself and the Steering Shaft nut. The sir connector must be guided through the Steering Wheel before you align the Steering Wheel scribe mark with the Steering Shaft slash mark to install the Steering Wheel. Put the Steering Wheel shaft nut in place then tighten it to 45 nm (33 ft. Lbs.). Put the inflator module back into position before enabling the sir system and checking that Horn operation and wheel steering work correctly.
