The first required step entails turning off the supplemental inflatable restraint sir system followed by disconnecting the negative Battery Cable. The first removal steps involve taking out the glove box followed by console support bracket then moving to the left knee bolster trim panel and left knee bolster before center trim panel removal and radio removal if equipped and shifting to the shifter trim plate (A/T only) manual shifter knob and boot (M/T only) then the rear console box bolts must be removed. Begin by removing screws from the front floor console and moving the center console backward before extracting both the front floor console screws. Detach the 3 bolts from the pcm found on the console carriage while disconnecting the 3 wiring harness connectors that connect to the pcm. First install the pcm within the console carriage then tighten 3 bolts to 15 n.m (11 lb ft) and use the 3 pcm wiring harness electrical connectors to join the pcm. Reinstall the front floor console using two screws before mounting the center console onto the front floor console through two bolts combined with two screws. The first step involves installation of the shifter trim plate for automatic transmissions but manual shifters need their boot and knob before proceeding with radio installation if present and completion with center trim panel, left knee bolster, bolster trim panel, support bracket, and glove box. The negative Battery Cable needs reconnection after completing the sir system activation process.
