Chevrolet Tahoe Coolant Reservoir plays an important role in the cooling system of the car as it hold the excess coolant and recycle it in the system when the temperature of the engine fluctuates. This process Increase the reliability of the system by avoiding the formation of gaps that may lead to leakage and elimination of air from the system to reduce the chances of corrosion to delicate parts. Chevrolet Tahoe models utilize two types of coolant reservoirs: It is of two types namely pressurized and non-pressurized. These two can be easily differentiated through their caps; a plastic cap means that the reservoir is not pressurized while that of a metal cap with pressure rating means that it is a pressurized version. All the types work efficiently in managing the overall engine performance and the environment since it holds hazardous materials.

Chevrolet Tahoe Coolant Reservoir Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to service the coolant reservoir on Chevrolet Tahoe?
    A:
Service of the Coolant Reservoir starts with draining the cooling system. Service on the surge tank requires removal of three components starting with the overflow hose then cleaning the air cleaner assembly. Detach each hose that connects to the surge tank before removing the surge tank hose clamps. Untangle the electrical connector for the Coolant Level Sensor before uninstalling the surge tank's bolt and nut. When installing the surge tank return it to position while securely torquing the surge tank nut and bolt to 10 nm (89 inch lbs.). After securing the surge tank hose clamps attach the hoses while connecting the Coolant Level Sensor electrical connector and installing the surge tank overflow hose. To protect the engine and Heater Core and Radiator from corrosion replace the air cleaner while adding dex-cool coolant to the system and plan for an early coolant replacement at 50,000 km (30,000 miles) or 24 months.
  • Q: How to replace the coolant reservoir on Chevrolet Tahoe?
    A:
In order to replace the Coolant Reservoir, first drain the cooling system. Next, unbolt the air cleaner assembly, then unbolt the Coolant Reservoir overflow hose and pull the low coolant amount switch electrical connector. Reposition the Coolant Reservoir inlet hose clamp and remove the Coolant Reservoir inlet hose, then reposition the Coolant Reservoir outlet hose clamp and remove the Coolant Reservoir outlet hose. Dislodge the bolt and nut holding the Coolant Reservoir and remove the Coolant Reservoir itself. For installation, set the Coolant Reservoir back into its place and install the bolt, which should be tightened 9 nm (80 inch lbs.) with a nut, which should be also tightened in 9 nm (80 inch lbs.). Connect the Coolant Reservoir outlet hose and locate its clamp, install the Coolant Reservoir inlet hose and its clamp. Reconnect the low coolant level switch electrical connector, install the Coolant Reservoir overflow hose and lastly its air cleaner assembly. The process is completed by filling in the cooling system.
