  The first step in inner Tie Rod (Quiet Valve) replacement requires boot removal of Rack And Pinion while securing the gear against a vise setup. Lbs.) torque on the inner Tie Rod housing flats. If your system uses a female rack with a male inner Tie Rod, thoroughly clean the threads before applying loctite (R) 262 or equivalent sealant to the inner Tie Rod threads. Use a pipe wrench on the rack next to the inner Tie Rod housing combined with j 34028 torque wrench to tighten the inner Tie Rod to 100 nm (74 ft. Lbs.) on its flats. If the assembly uses a male rack with female inner Tie Rod install the inner Tie Rod assembly into a vise for stake placement on both sides of the housing. A 0.25 mm gauge should be used to check both stakes by fitting it between the rack and inner Tie Rod housing. The feeler gauge must not fit between these components. To finish the installation feed the shock dampener through the inner Tie Rod housing until its front edge touches the housing before booting up the Rack And Pinion.
