Performing the installation of the right side parking brake rear cable for drum brakes starts with releasing the park brake and elevating the vehicle. Start the replacement process by lowering tension from the park brake cables through front cable tension at the equalizer point. First remove the right park brake cable from the equalizer after which you should detach the park brake cable from its frame bracket and guidance system. The cable clip bolt at the rear axle housing needs removal followed by taking the right cable away from its clip situated on top of the rear axle housing. The Parking Brake Cable release tool (J 37043) should be used to detach the park brake cable from the vehicle after braking shoe removal. You need to fasten the park brake cable onto the backing plate before you return the rear brake shoes to their position. Install the clip at the rear axle housing then put the cable clip bolt in position before tightening it to 22 nm (16 ft. Lbs.). The right cable must be placed above the clip on top of the rear axle housing while installing the park brake cable through frame brackets and guides followed by a connection to the equalizer. As the last step adjust the park brakes then lower the vehicle.
