The first step to replace the Camshaft Position Sensor requires engineers to remove the Water Pump followed by disconnecting the engine wiring harness electrical connector from the camshaft position (CMP) sensor wiring harness jumper. Start by removing the cmp sensor bolt followed by its removal together with the wiring harness jumper from the engine front cover. Remove the cmp sensor by disconnecting its wired harness jumper from both the sensor and the wiring harness. You should use a new o-ring when reusing the cmp sensor by joining it to the wiring harness jumper before you can connect the cmp sensor wiring harness jumper to the sensor. Before installing the cmp sensor and wiring harness jumper to the engine front cover apply clean engine oil to the o-ring seal. Secure the cmp sensor bolt at 10 n.m (89 lb in) limitations while replacing the Water Pump.
